Our Favourite Wine Grower for 2020

Drinking wine winemakers

It is undeniable that Hubert de Boüard, one of the most famous names of Bordeaux, deserves the accolades that have been showered on him. A winegrower since 1956, he clearly loves the land and knows his grapes, coaxing the best out of them even as he surveys the unpredictable weather, using experience to guide him on when to prune, when to let the grapes stay on longer, when to gather them.

Hubert De Bouard

As co-owner of the Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé “A” property, Château Angelus (where a single bottle can cost several hundred to thousands of dollars) he not only tends to his own vineyards but consults as a oenologist to top estates around the World, working closely with others to keep the wine making not traditional, but sustainable, every plot managed according to the passage of the seasons with the express aim to protect the surrounding eco-systems, so that future generations can continue to enjoy this amazing fruit loved for millennia all over the world.

While Hubert de Boüard has many properties, there is only one label that clearly and proudly bears his name where he makes every bottle 100% the grape variety indicated on its label. Produced in very limited quantities in order to guarantee its quality and authenticity, each bottle is truly worth every dollar spent.

Note: We have run out of Chardonnay, but have limited quantities of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Rose.  For this Christmas, they are not only priced at a great value for money of $62.00 (inclusive of taxes), but you get an additional 10% off if you buy all 6 varieties.
