"Sometimes I dream of desert lands,
Not sure where it is I stand,
With every breath they shift and change,
Yet all their destiny the same.

This mound, that pile, the same you see,
I cannot tell them apart from me,
One grain, the next, that grain the same,
Why bother giving them a name?

But just when all I think is lost,
A little vine shoots out in frost,
It grows right before my eyes,
And still I stand in full surprise.

It grows and twists and moves with life,
It bends and curls in much clear strife,
And then its arms outstretched to me,
Bids me to climb and let things be.

So rest I do in its crooked arm,
Strong and sure and safe from harm,
And seems as if it held my hand,
Sometimes I dream of desert lands."
