Ibérica Bruno Prats-MosYca 2012 (Red)
A beautifully rich and juicy wine from Alicante, Spain. Well known for his elegant, structured and complex wines that are a pure reflection of the terroir, this wine is one of Bruno Prats' projects, who once owned the iconic Bordeaux Château Cos d' Estournel together with Stephane Point (former winemaker of Chryseia in Duoro, Portugal).
KEY VARIETAL: MONASTRELL
A medium to bold Spanish red made in the bordelais fashion due to Bruno Prats influences, this blend of 40% Syrah, 20% Monastrell, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Petit Verdot is a powerful and concentrated wine. The Monastrell varietal is particular to the region of Alicante and is a fussy grape. However, its difficulty is also its potential and the old, rain-fed vines that survive the extreme climate of the hinterland produce especially profound wines with warm flavours and inimitable freshness.
On the nose is a mix of berry fruit and dark spices. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with fine tannins, sleek texture and good balance, with a slightly bitter finish. Pair this with roast beef or skirt steak for a perfect meal.
